At Tata Medical Centre Kolkata, patients are offered two distinct categories of treatment: general and private. Changes in category may be considered under certain circumstances, subject to approval by the administration and in consultation with the treating teams.

Private Category:

Patients covered by insurance and most corporate clients are designated in the private category.

These patients pay a slightly higher fee compared to the general category.

Private patients are accommodated in individual rooms with attached toilets and basic amenities like a TV and fridge.

Each room includes a small couch for attendants.

Direct consultation with the treating consultant is provided both in the outpatient department (OPD) and within the ward.

Private patients do not qualify for financial assistance, discounts, or funding.

General Category:

General category patients are charged at cost rates.

They are accommodated in general wards, typically in cubicles with six beds and shared toilets.

Similar basic amenities such as TV, fridge, and microwave are available in the general wards.

Each bed is provided with a small couch for attendants.

Patients in this category are managed by department teams, including Consultants, Fellows, and Medical Officers, under the guidance of the treating Consultants.

Patients under government schemes like WBHS and SS Schemes are treated under the General category.

General category patients do not have access to insurance facilities.

The cancer care provided to patients in both categories remains identical. Regardless of category, patients receive treatment according to the same protocols and have access to the same equipment and procedures. There is no discrimination in terms of the availability of investigations, procedures, surgeries, or outpatient department (OPD) services; all patients are handled with equal consideration and care.
